Homework Policy

                                              Mrs. Fessler's Homework Policy

Homework for fifth-graders will focus on quality and not quantity. If the student works hard during the day, his or her homework will be minimal. The students should spend 20 minutes (maximum) each night on reading homework. The students will be given a chance to start their homework at the end of each day in what we call "Study Hall". Science and social studies homework will not be assigned at this time except for occasional special projects.

Here's a basic homework guideline. It may change based on the students' needs:

  • Monday – spelling
  • Tuesday- vocabulary
  • Wednesday- reading passage with questions to answer
  • Thursday- spelling
  • Friday- Enjoy the weekend!  *If a child has unfinished work, he/she may need to bring it home to complete on the weekend. Otherwise, I do not assign homework on the weekend.

PLEASE INITIAL OR SIGN YOUR CHILD’S HOMEWORK BOOK NIGHTLY!

Also, please return any work on the “return to school” side of the folder.

THANK YOU! J
