This will be my 13th year as a classroom teacher. I have also taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 6th grade in Baltimore,  Maryland, Muncy, PA and (best of all) here at Shikellamy! I look forward to teaching 5th grade this year J. In my spare time, I love family time, hiking, traveling, reading, dancing, lifting weights, and learning new ways to help my students grow. I can't wait to dig into a new school year! I am so happy that YOU will be in my classroom!

Dear Families,

Hello!  Welcome! Fifth grade is a year full of growth and preparation for middle school. The goal of fifth grade is for your child to master, and expand upon, the fourth grade skills of reading more complex texts fluently, comprehending what is read, becoming a more detailed writer, and using science in the world around them. Fifth grade will also foster an opportunity for your child to develop compassion, friendship skills and leadership abilities.  We also have FIFTH GRADE CAMP to look forward to! I expect that we will have an exciting year! I hope we can work together to make this year special and beneficial for your child. It’s going to be a wild, wonderful year.

                           :) Mrs. Fessler

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Returned Class Work and Homework Assignments – The students have a BLACK, plastic take home folder that should be returned every day. The PTA purchased these folders and if lost, your child will need to supply a replacement. Please check this folder nightly for important papers and graded assignments.

Food Allergies- Although this information is recorded for the nurse, I would like you to notify me if your child has a food allergy. I like to incorporate cooking and snacks with some of my lessons that relate to science and literature. Thanks!

Newsletters- I will be sending the newsletters home periodically just for you! They are titled "5th Grade Times".  As the year progresses, the students will help create articles for our newsletter! It looks like this:
